    Satellite search

    How does Satellite search work?

Is there a list of channels somewhere which are associated with a particular satellite?

I only want to do a search of channels on Hotbird, but how does SKYBOX know what to scan for?

And how do I know which Scan Mode to select? Are the terms Blind, Preset and Accurate defined anywhere?

So a Satellite search is out of the question.

You can do a transponder search but a Blind Scan searches all the transponder on the single sat.

I don't think I made myself clear.... I didn't want to search for different satellites, but find out which channels are available on a particular satellite. I'm new to allow this and not sure how satellite search works.

As for transponders... I have no idea what they are...

The blind & accurate scans will just scan for any transponders that it can find on that particular satellite, so should find every channel.

I don't know if it's just the fact that the accurate scan takes a minute or two longer to scan that makes it more accurate. I always use accurate scan, as I have known the blind scan to miss a transponder or 2.

I think the preset scan simply scans the transponders that are stored in the TP list after you have done your first blind or accurate scan. A preset scan will fail if you haven't done a blind or accurate scan first, or if you haven't installed a channel list.

A transponder is the equipment in the satellite that receives the signal from the ground station & retransmits it back to Earth on a different frequency. There are a number of transponders in each satellite. The transponder is often refered to by the frequency it transmits on in MegaHertz, and it's polarity, either vertical or horizontal (e.g. More4 on 28.2e = 10729 V).
