Using F5 & Sky box simultaneously...

Chaps, forgive me if this has been asked elsewhere, but am I right in thinking I can plug 1 Sky feed into my F5 and 1 into my Sky box and use both? I think I've read somewhere that you need to turn one off to use the other? I only want to do this to use my genuine box to record the FTA channels. Thanks in advance.

If you have quad LNB then you can have both on at the same just have the sat cable from your F5 go to the spare output of the LNB but be aware there might be a loss of channels in the F5 when connected along with the sly box, search for the diode solution on this forum.
If you are talking about loop through then you are correct one or the other has to be off or will cause conflict in the LNB, which means only be able to change transponders (channels) with one and only being able to view the channels on that transponder with the other.

p.s don't you need sly sub for recording on you sly box? and you will need two feeds for recording.

Cheers. I'm still under f*cking contract with the thieves until October mate, unfortunately, but I didn't realise you needed a subscription to record! I thought it'd just work with it being a recordable hard-drive?

Once you stop subscribing the PVR functions are disabled, so you cannot record or play back previously recorded programmes.

You can keep the PVR functions active if you pay $ly ?10.25 per month.

I wouldn't consider using loop from F5 to feed $ky box as you may suffer from random no signals mostly on F5 but occasionally on $ky like I have experienced. I'm ordering new cable to feed the F5 directly from a separate LNB.

only a matter of time before skybox does a hissy fit and gets the no signal,a better box does not have these issues and could work with providers box.

I have an S10 that is still going strong for about 2 years now (touch wood). I also have an S5 as well.
