sounds very much like it,numerous posts all over the forums with no signal just shows what crap they build those boxes with, curious if changing the lnb will fix the issue or that inline dangerous diode fix be needed also.

If the OP is using the loop feature then that's possibly the problem.

I have S10 (2 years old) and F5 (prob close to 1 year old) and only prob I've had is when I recently decided to cheat and use loop feature of F5 to $ky box, I suffered from random no signals on certain HD channels. Upon removing loop from F5 to $ky box the problem is solved. My guess is that maybe both F5 and $ky box are prob both trying to send voltage even when one is on standby. I found it seems ok when I actually unplug $ky box as well.

I personally can't justify ?250 for a good receiver when no one knows how long things will work for.

Why do you say it's dangerous?

somebody else had that fix on their box and went to move it while on outer and inner combined and i think it blew the box,he also showed the photos of it ,if you keep digging you might find it.the seller stated it was a homemade fix on their ebay link.

Being on a communal system would mean you have probably a Quattro LNB outside on the main dish connected into a Multifeed power Amplifier which distributes the whole sat/Tv/Fm/Dab to every apartment etc...

Could be an over voltage due to the powered amp so the inline diode fix could cure it or it may not.

I remember seeing some photos, but can't remember what the thread was about.

Looking at the feedback for these fixes on Ebay (maybe around 100 by now), only 1 is negative. All the others are positive.

and you know why they get a positive report, they buy item fit it and it works great ,give positive feedback and later something may happen, you cant change feedback then.if kept straight maybe things are ok and his got bent,by removing outer casing it is very delicate.
