    Samsung Smart Tv Remote Control Link to Skybox F3

    Hi all,

    Just bought a samsung smart tv and trying to set up the IR blaster Universal Remote, so I can control the skybox f3 from new remote.

    When I am trying to link the device on the tv options, it showing a range of brands i.e sky, dream box, humanix, techno mate etc but can't find open box/skybox.

    Anyone linked the smart tv remote to control skybox?

          I couldn't get it to work, trying on a proper satellite box worked fine.

          But couldn't connect remote to skybox f3.

          Any luck?

              Not sure on this but i think the F3 lacks the EDID information required via the HDMI for any link functions to work

                  Samsung remote does control Sky TV

                  I eventually got this working last night!
                  I connected the IR extender to the audio out on my new Samsung F5500 Smart and placed it a couple of inches in front of my sky box.
                  From Menu I went to Broadcast and Device manager and Universal Remotes ( not exactly sure of the names here, I'm at work)

                  After 4 failed attempts I had to include the model number which i didnt know so I just entered sky
                  I got a list of names Digibox, Sky Plus, Sly+ SkyPlus and so on
                  None worked.
                  I unplugged the IR extender again, reinserted it and tried the same process again.

                  I selected Sky Plus this time and it worked. (I have a sky plus box)

                  I think its important to have the IR extender in the right position, you may have to play around with it.
                  The guide button on the Samsung remote will now bring up the sky guide, volume and up down channel button works also.
                  Tonight I need to get the TV to turn on the Sky box when it turns on. I think I changed a setting somewhere last night that turns the sky box off when the TV turns off, cant remember where I did that though!

                      Max10 did you ever get this to work? i also have a Skybox F5s and would love to use the Samsung remote.

                      Hounddog i'm a little confused to whether your referring to a Skybox or a Sky Plus Box? these are two very different boxes!
