Panasonic Viera Link, Yamaha RX-V673 Receiver and Skybox F5S??

    Hi all,

I have a Sky+ HD box (plus a few other things) plugged into a Yamaha RX-V673 receiver which is hooked up to a Panasonic TXP50VT30B TV.

The Viera Link function works very well allowing me to quickly switch between audio directly from the TV to audio from the surround sound speakers.

Only problem is, the Viera Link is lost when the Skybox F5S is plugged into the receiver or TV - extremely frustrating!

I've looked on the forum and found that others are experiencing a similar problem http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ny-amp-275528/

I was wondering if anyone has a similar set up to mine and has found a solution to this issue? There is no optical out on the F5S and I've tried adjusting the sound output settings but no luck

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

I have the exact same Amp but i dont own a panasonic its a samsung and i also dont own an F5 but all my other receivers play absolutely fine connected via HDMI to AMP and then to TV.

All manufactures now have some form of so called 'Link' but i must admit that the Panasonic's is one of the best, Your problem will be the F5 as it is more than likely not certified in the HDMI spec

The best solution not ideal i know is to switch it off

All of the items plugged into the receiver still play fine out of the surround sound speakers when the F5 is also plugged in, its just the link function is disabled. I just updated the receiver firmware to the latest version (1.80) but still no luck. I think you're right in that the F5 is not certified to ARC standards.

O well, its not a killer, just a huge inconvenience as I have about 5 different remotes to navigate!

      Thanks!

You should invest in a Harmony Remote that solves everything
