SKYBOX F5 LOOP / NO SIGNAL

Hi, I am a bit new to this satellite stuff so would appreciate any help.
i recently bought an SKYBOX F5S and connected up and its all fine. however i also have SKY and wish to use that at the same time.

i read on this forum that you can create a loop from the skybox to the digi box, but obvioulsy both cant be used at the same time and 1 would have to be on stand by in order to use the other. (I am unable to draw another line direct from the satellite dish due to location and position of it)

i have done this, and the skybox f5s works nicely, however when i put it on standby and go to use the digibox... it keeps saying NO SATELLITE SIGNAL IS BEING RECEIVED on all the channels.

prior to that i have attempted to use a splitter but that makes the signal non-existent for both pretty much.

any ideas what i can do?

    many many thanks in advance

I had similar problems when I used F5 loop feature to feed the $ky box. I'm going to use a dedicated line to solve my problem (it isn't that difficult really I was just trying to be lazy).

However, I found only certain channels may not work on either of the boxes. Not all the channels as you have mentioned. I had input 1 from $ky box going to F5 first then looped from F5 back to input 1 on $ky box.

I know it sounds silly are you certain cable you have used from F5 to loop to $ky box is working? Is it DIY made or bought as is with moulded F connectors?

It sounds like your signal strength must be borderline if using a splitter or loopthrough kills the signal.

You could try a signal switch box. The attenuation should be pretty low.

Is your official $ly box an old single tuner box, or is it a + box?

digicon...I don't think this is the same problem as the "no signal fix" as theeagleman is not using another port on the LNB for the F5, but the same one for both boxes.

If your LNB has spare feeds then you can run a separate sat cable to each device and be able to watch on both devices at the same if you wanted to.

ps you can't use splitters like you do for coax loop through 1 box must always be on standby. (after re reading your post)

I personally found there was only little loss of signal when using loop through compared to plugged directly in $ky box.

Theeagleman, what are the signals levels on your $ky box?

However you wire this up 9 times out of 10 if your using an official receiver on the same lnb as the F5 then your going to need the diode fix as well

I thought the diode fix was for those having issues with certain channels on a polarization !!

while using an official receiver on the same LNB as the F3/F5 the diode fix cures the loss of channels, if you dont use an official receiver on the same lnb as your F3/F5 then no need for the fix.

Just to clarify the fix is needed for official receivers being used on official $ly Quad lnbs

@bbb_uk my wire is absolutely fine , i tested with just the official $kybox and the f5 and it works fine individually (the wires are not DIY, bought from shop). i have the old school tuner (not $ky +), the signal levels on the $kybox itself is about 50% strength and 50% intensity. unless i can get a ladder which can scale up 4 floors by a side of a building, its virtually impossible for me to get another dedicated line, hence my reason for a loop.

@digicon i dont have a quad LNB, although the skydish itself is official it was put up by them about 7-8 years ago...

so what should i do? the diode or the cable switch? im a bit confused as to what
the only reason i want both to work is because my mum loves watching documentary (subscription) whereas i want to watch HD channels. i can't watch HD through the old school tuner.

and again it says NO SIGNAL BEING RECEIVED on all channels on $ky when using the loop
thanks for your all your help guys i really appreciate it

I'm thinking it could be signal loss whilst using loop. It may be that you're possibly on borderline now with only 50% but once you go through loop it drops to a point where it signal isn't strong enough.

For a comparison, my signal strength is 80% with signal quality/intensity bit more.

What is your signal whilst through the F5 loop and what is signal level on the F5 (obviously not both on at same time)?

50% is poor and will cause pixelation. 45% and below will show No Signal

with the F5 the signal is wierdly is 70% with intensity at 60% and works a peach with crisp and clear viewing. but on $ky itself its both 50%....

I have now tried a different satellite wire F-Type (even though the previous one works perfectly individually connected) and with being very careful pressing of remote it now works!

                          very confused, but happy...

Also another question... next to some of the channels its got $ sign... when i go to them it says "scrambled" ? i take it means i have to pay for these channels?
again thanks for all the help...
