channel 5 not working abroad?

Hi all,

Ive shipped off an openbox and year subscription to my parents abroad in Spain. After a lot of meesing over the phone it seems to all be working fine but channel 5 in entertainment (as per aj's list) doesnt work. I dont think this is an issue with any of the harware or channel list as channel 5 doesnt seem to work for anyone there by whatever means they try and access it.

My question is, does anyone know why channel 5 cant be accessed and how I might do it.

More than likely on that frequency its a paid channel ie premium channel. There might be a fta channel there if you do a scan under a different frequency. Andy.

As far as i am Aware and unless it has changed all the regional CH5's are FTA except the HD version which is on the $ly FTV card

thanks, i only really know the basics with using the openbox etc and what i didnt do was scann channels, i set the box up here in the uk and assumed it would work 'ok' in spain knowing very well that there may be a dish issue etc.
would you suggest i locate 28.2 on the box, blind scan and then re add the channel list?

As Digicon suggested only the Channel 5HD is a $ channel the others are fta. After a scan if there's a channel missing ive hit the satlist button on the remote and found it that way but I would have thought there's a fta channel 5 sd program on Ajs list, Andy.

You also may find that all the FTA Channel 5's are now located on the Astra 2F UK spotbeam which would mean to receive these in spain dependant on location of course you will need a very large Dish, Where as CH5 HD is on the Astra 2A Pan European beam which will be easier to receive in spain than the others
