    HDMI to my panasonic telly

My wee skybox f3 doesn't like it at all. I plug into to mains and sat cable and everything is fine. Boots up,remote changes the channels. Ive plugged several different HDMI cables in and the the box stops responding. Stays switched on,remote doesn't change channel but most of all no picture on the telly? The box works fine on different telly..! This just started happening after I tripped my house electricity(which killed the box that was wired to said telly).. There are three different HDMI ports on the telly, none of them playing the game? I've also tried another box.. no joy... I got a picture using RGA to SCART but its poor...

    1. Whats the exact model number of the telly
    2. Does any other HDMI devices work on the TV
3 Are The HDMI Ports greyed out in the TV Menu

On most Panasonics theres a key comination you can use on the remote to reset the TV to Factory defaults.

The default video out on Skybox's is RGB.....for HDMI you need to set it to YUV...its one or the other so connect both scart and HDMI leads whilst switching over from RGB to YUV then check your HDMI input on the TV......make sure you have the Video resolution set to at least 720p so the TV reacts quite quickly.

On YUV the RGB picture should look blurry and off colour...is the panasonic set up to interact with other panasonic equipment...some sort of i-link system..is it fine with a sky box or other HDMI gear.

This is a good point. When I did get 'blurry' picture through scart I never changed any settings on the f3. The telly isnt set up with any other equipment.

I have a Funny feeling when you had the Power cut that the HDMI power board on your Panasonic may have blown, The reason i say this is because when i worked for a certain company with there HD boxes complaints came in of non working HDMI ports on Panasonic's due to the fact people where changing the leads without switching the TV off first.

All of the major manufacturers have problems with this due to the HDMI connectors being powered for the HDMI-CEC link system as it is called, Vierra link on panasonic and smart link on LG etc...

Sorry m8 but I think you TV might be fuc$ed, I had the same problem on my daughters tv, it blow up (the TV) and tripped the main RCD and well as a 32amp breaker
so you can imagine how much power has gone through the HDMI cable and then into the box, the TV was knackered and so was the box

I had insurance for the TV and it had a new power board fitted but we had to bin the box Hope yours doesn't end up like mine.

                      *UPDATE*

The box is going again on the panasonic. I used RGB to scart cable. The best picture I get is by putting settings in 'Menu' 'TV System' to

                      Video resolution 720p_50
                      aspect mode Auto
                      Video out YUV
                      digital audio out LPCM Out

Ive obviously lost a bit of picture quality but all channels still very watchable. When entering the menu screen the writing appears a little hazy but again able to navigate ok.

Need to buy a new box and compatable homeplug now for the conservatory...

Think it safe to say my HDMI card is gubbed.

                      Thanks guys.
