    hi, my f5 box is not working and has no lights showing?
    I have got 12 volts going in and on the board - is there a way to fix it please? or is it dead

              wrong end on cable mate?
              my laptop has the same (male? ) end has the cable - fits into box ok.

                If your laptop has an inbuilt RS232 port, then it will be 9 pin male, which will mate with the cable that maca linked to (which has female connectors, as mentioned in the listing).

                Unless your laptop is very old, I suspect that it doesn't have a 9 pin RS232 port, & that you are looking at the 15 pin SVGA (monitor) port.
