    A few noob questions....

    Hi,

I've been researching the Skybox F5s and found this forum to be very helpful but I have a few questions.

If I buy a vanilla F5s with no 'gift' or such will I be able to view the free channels, watch YouTube and play media from local hard drive?

When recording to HDD or USB what format are the recordings in? I'd like to be able to chuck them on a mobile device to watch on the train if possible.

I've heard there is a 2 hour limit on recordings, is this still an issue with a new F5s?

    Thanks.

Without a gift, you can still view all the FTA channels, either by scanning the box yourself (you can scan for only FTA channels if you want) or by installing a channel list which has a FTA favourites section. You can also watch You Tube & You p 0 r n (with an internet connection) & play media from a hard drive or memory stick.

The recordings are made in .ts format, which are recorded in 1GB chunks. To watch them on a pc or other device you might have to combine them first, depending on what program you use to view them. Combining the files can easily be done with a few DOS commands. If your device cannot play .ts files, there are free programs that will convert them to virtually any format.

The default recording time is 2 hours. It can be changed to whatever you want.

      Thanks for the info.

I bought an F5s this morning and within an hour or two had it working on a trial line.
