    Weird network problem openbox s10

    Hi,

Can anyone help with this weird network issue I'm having with a clone s10? The box won't connect via a router, however it will connect if I plug it into a laptop and use ICS.

    I've tried 2 routers a netgear wgr614 and a virgin media superhub.

The netgear doesn't see the s10 at all and all pings show as "destination host unreachable" for static IPs (It wont assign one to it via DHCP)

The virgin media superhub can see, assign an IP and ping the s10, however the channels wont decrypt.

If I connect a laptop to either router and then share the connection and plug the s10 into the laptops it works first time. (Tried both full and half duplex, both worked.)

I have another S10 and this works fine on both routers (I've also tried re-imaging from the working box, same issue.)

Any one seen this happen before / know of a solution?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dalk1

only seen similar issues when 2 s10's have been plugged in and running at the same time, as they had the same mac address. It's a weird one that mate, hope someone can help resolve it.
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

Try the firmware I have uploaded. Its clone safe and probably has an old channel file but that can be updated if it works ok

        Thanks DW190, Darcu5.

No luck I'm afraid! Can only put it down to a faulty nic on the openbox, I'm going to open a dispute on aliexpress to try and get my money back (not holding my breath) as it was claimed that the box was original when it's clearly a very poor clone.

Still frustrating that the box will work with a connection through the laptop.

You could try one of these if your dispute fails:

dalk1...how long ago did you buy your S10? Did you discover it was a clone by the chip ID, or did it display "clone" when you used official firmware?

Hi hadron, just guessed it's a clone as my other s10 seems far better made, this one even down to the remote (bright blue main buttons, with poor printing) seems lighter. I opened this one up and the Ethernet is onboard rather than a separate module like my other box.

How can you tell a clone from the chip I'd?

              Thanks

Have a look at this thread (I only press 8888 to see mine):-

Have a look at the Chip ID numbers to see if your one is there.

Official firmware after a certain date also contained a time bomb that would brick the box after a certain number of standby's.

One of my original S10's also came with that unreadable remote, so not sure if that is an indication of a clone.

                  Oops...posted at same time.
