Skybox F5S - only outputs in stereo?

Is there a setting somewhere to get it output 5.1 over HDMI? It's going into an AV amp and is currently showing as Linear PCM and only 2.0

    Many thanks!

they did not add a spdif or digital out on this box so you could get 5-1 sound, but i have been told the hdmi to amp does this??no setting i am aware of.this box is built on the cheap due to cutbacks.

depends on what channel you are watching and which audio track you have selected, Most have 1-3 tracks a 2.0 stereo, 5.1 AC3 and finally an AD track (Audio Description).

you would of course pick the 5.1 track for multichannel playback

When I press the sound button I get the option of Mono L, Mono R, and stereo - tested this on the HD Sky Movies channels . . (they should have 5.1, right?)

        Thankss!

Have you tried going into the main menu of thebox and altering the sound output through HDMI, I dont own one of these but it sounds like the HDMI is set to down convert 5.1 to PCM
