Which satellite am I looking at

Hi All,
I have a motorised system using a Channel Master 1.2M dish with a SkyJack EZ-6000 positioner driving a H-H 1224 SUPERMOUNT. I?ve had it for years now and thought since I now have the F5S that I would scan some satellites. I can?t use USUAL?s with the positioner so have to stick with Diseqc 1.2.
Procedure:
I select a satellite from the channel list download and then select a transponder. I then move the dish East or West and watch for the signal level to go up as it does to 90%. The trouble is the F5 box labels the satellite as say AstraXX but I could be looking at any satellite as the transponder that I have selected is used on another satellite.
How can I distinguish one satellite from another or am I missing something?

You could not have picked a worse box to go with such a great setup with the CM 1.2, You may have to factory reset the box to get the full satellite list back and then start over with Diseqc 1.2

Hi Digicon, I did reset the positioner and that's why I am in this position. Spent ages just trying to get both boxes to talk and move the dish. The problem I had was the positioner needs to have the positions stored before it would allow movement. There must be some way of telling which sat I am looking at without getting a professional out.

not being funny... Look approximately at where your dish is facing in regards to a neighbours Sky dish.. Then you will have a rough idea.. Get a channel list which contains european satellites and just try a channel or two of each satellite which is a similar direction to where your dish is facing....

Jackpot, I've got the channel list installed and working perfectly on 28.2E. Just don't know which channels I should be seeing on another sat when I don't know which sat it is. Example: I moved the dish West hoping to get Astra 19.2E but when I did a blind search one of the channels I had was TRT three which looks to be on Eutelsat W3A at 7E. So this means I have gone past multiple sats without even knowing it. Its going to take a while to re-establish the sats if I have to do all the time. I was hoping that the sat name would be broadcast along with the transponder info.

Look at the channels which are coming in via the scan, goto Search Results for - KingOfSat and try find out which channels belong to which sat..There is a TRT turk apparently on 19.2 e..

Meon as JP states you will need to select each satellite manually and choose a working transponder from that satellite, And might i suggest that the transponder you choose either is different from either side of the adjoining satellites.

So make sure the TP you choose is unique in some way either not repeated on a nearby sat or the SR is unique to that transponder and on that satellite. I speak from experience as i have a 1.25m Gibetini with Superjack Actuator but my V-Box is the GBox 3000 with receiver loopthrough so your receiver can control the Vbox instead of using 2 remotes. As far as i am aware unless you have a very old EZ6000 positioner you should have the loopthrough on yours.

Here is what i would do first is to save all your sats with Diseqc 1.2 so its stored in the EZ6000 memory again and then do a scan of the satellites you want afterwards, Just remeber the Skybox receivers have a limited 5000 channel memory capacity so be wise in your saving of the satellites.

Just to give you an idea i have just over 32 satellites stored on my system from 46? east to 45? west and just under 10,000 channels so you can imagine what your going to have to sort out with the skybox receiver.
