    F5 Scart quality not good.

    Hi,

I had sky+ configured in all the rooms using 4 way distributor amplifier. Sky+ had aerial in for digital channels. RF2 going out to distributor. All rooms had Magic Eye.

I brough a new Skybox F5. I wanted to keep the same setup, so after looking up at DigitalKaos forums, I bought a triax link as well. So current configuration is:

    f5 scart to triax scart
$ly+ RF2 to triax RF Input
    triax rf2 to distributor.
Antenna Wire to $ly+ antenna (For digital channel distribution)

Sky Aerial -> One wire to Sky+ and another to f5

Can anybody please let me know If this configuration is right? Only problem with this configuration is the quality of f5 in other rooms is not good. It is working on channel 34. I tried all channels but could not get better quality. Everything else is working fine. e.g. digital channels through aerial or $ly channels are of perfect quality in other rooms.

What do you think if I extend my setup by getting HDMI to scart converter adapter. hopefully f5 hdmi will provide better quality than scart and scart will go in triax in the same way. The reason i am thinking of using this-> yesterday I put RF2 $ly to distributor and RF2 from f5 into $ly antenna. The quality was better but could not use magic eye. I don't know whether it was because there was no antenna so no interference or $ly improved the quality.

Please help if anybody else faced same problem or how did they resolve this.

    Thanks
    G

Your getting RF Modulator interference by having both the RF2 from the Official Box and a Scart picture from the F5 going into a single channel modualtor, These items where designed for equipment that do not have any RF modualtion so by piping the RF2 Modualor through the tr-link your causing co-channel interference.

Is the Official Receiver RF2 set to CH34 as well as the Tr-link if so try changing the RF2 modulator to say CH40 or higher

      Dear Digicon,

Thanks for your quick reply. Please note that I am not very good in this.

The $ly is set on C68 while triax is set on C34. I have tried all the channels on triax and getting best quality on C34 but that is still not good enough. I was checking some other forums as well and found someone sorted similar problem by having a ATTENUATOR in between antenna cable and $ly. Do you think it is a good idea?

      Regards
      G

Also check your F5 TV system...for best scart picture you must have it on RGB...default on mine was YUV ( HDMI )

              Further update:

Got a new good qualityscart cable. Got a ATTENUATOR but don't think this made anydifference. Change setting to YUV(1080p), previously it was set toRGB with lower resolution.

This had made a difference, still notlike HDMI but better and can be viewed from other rooms.

Does anybody know good ATTENUATOR. Ibought 12dB Coax Plug inline ATTENUATOR. What does dB means. Ishigher dB any good?

I don't think I am going to make anyfurther changes unless somebody can recommend different approach andprovide HDMI like quality.

              Thanks for your replies.
