    Faulty skybox f3

Hi everyone just thought id give the heads up on a ebay seller who has screwed me over basically. Bought 5xf3's of him in a few months for myself and a few friends in work. Every box was fine until the last one I purchased for a friend started playing up. It keeps rebooting at random times...sometimes 5 mins sometimes 30 mins. So I sent the box off to the seller with invoice and an explanation to what was happening. ..a few days later I received the box back saying everything was fine and fixed. They said they reflashed it...I checked the firmware and it has the same firmware on it from when I received it originally. I understand that the firmware could be corrupt but I never istalled a program list. Any help would be appreciated guys
Here is the seller...avoid like the plague

Can someone send me a link for the exact cable I need to buy? There are so many different types on ebay. Thanks

If you have an RS232 port on your computer then this will be fine: RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable DB9 Female to DB9F RS 232 Ideal for Box Flashing | eBay

Thats correct its not the right port what you have there is a DVI-D port for displaying HD onto other devices.

Why don't you flash the box via usb ? If your box is still booting up and from what you said it sounds like it is then download the latest firmware from skybox.cc
copy it to your memory stick and Install it.

Had a lot of boxes off this seller myself and never had any problems, flashed them with plenty of different f/w and channel list, that's not to say there may be the odd dodgey box though .. i've been into their office and they seem a decent bunch of lads.
I can tell you they are no longerselling these boxes on ebay as they are moving office and should be back in a fornight?? (that was the reply i got when i phoned up the other day).
Just have a try leaving the box on with the sat cables unplugged see if it reboots, obviously would need to leave it somewhere to catch your eye if it was to reboot..
The f/w that came with the box 1st time and the f/w they sent it back to with may well be the same as they flash the box with the channel list and favs named as like sattv5 or aj's channel list.
The only problem any of my mates have had with one of his boxes came when he decided to move his front room around and plugged both of his sat cable feeds into his box, this caused it to reboot every 20 - 30 mins, so maybe check you only have one feed to the box.

The easiest way to flash the box is as sattv5 says above, use the usb plugged into the box, just back your important bits up to usb 1st (just incase ) once thats done put a decent channel list on it like the sattv5 list which is regularly updated.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted.
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!
