New Official Skybox F5S/F3S Software Released 24/12/13

I just got an F5s for the bedroom and once I updated the firmware I didn't need to go near the network App side of thing...everything was in the EPG and Time Setting menu.
It take ages to get the EPG update installed and needs at least a 512mb storage device...tried using my 128mb pen drive I use for channel and firmware updates and it kept failing at around 50%...so stuck a 8GB Fat 32 USB stick in for now.
The EPG works great ... however from what i've tried so far its for viewing only...you can't use it to select programmes to record as with Sly box.

Yea, agreed. I know you can also access the settings from that menu but think its simpler to enter network apps.

Also agreed. Maybe future updates will eventually incorporate this. It's a gradual process but I think each successive software update so far has been a step in the right direction.

As always, first back up your original files before performing a software update. Using a USB stick that has been formatted to FAT32, enter the " Dump By USB " menu of your Skybox and first select the Image file ( which is your software backup ) and dump to the usb. Then change the image setting to miscellaneous files and select TP_PROG.dbs ( your channel list ) and CCcam.cfg ( your gift provider ) and dump these also. Make sure that you place a tick in each file you are dumping to usb by either selecting OK or the yellow button on your remote. Copy these files to a safe place on your PC. To upgrade, download the new software and extract it using the appropriate programme e.g. Winrar etc., then copy it to your usb stick. Once inserted, navigate to the " Upgrade By USB " menu option, select the image file, making sure it is ticked, do not alter any other settings and select upgrade. Wait for the upgrade process to finish and the box should reboot. If it does not reboot do it manually by powering off then on using the remote.

Hi looking for a bit of help, Followed the instructions but when upgrading the .abs file i get Upgrade file is a mismatch. Any ideas?

Works great just one problem im not getting any programme info for any sky movie channels i can still switch to them through epg or fav just got to guess whats on any one else having this problem? cheers

Flip forward to tomorrow and you'll see content for movies. Not sure what's happening, but it happens on mine!

looking forward to trying this later...if it does tie the EPG into the timer recording feature it should make these Fxs boxes a budget gem.

Goto the skybox.cc Download, you will find PICON item, download the SKYBOX_PICON_DEMO.rar, the ics demo data , copy them to usb device , test again.

Thanks, working now. Seem to have lost EPG Data for movies again apart from showcase. Updated to latest EPG still the same. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm finding that with each update the box is gradually a touch slower when responding to the remote and changing channels.
I tried other remotes and it made no difference.
Updates are however very welcome.

Yes definitely, they need to work on making it swift not chaining it down with so many features, liking some of the update but not the slowness.
