    Picture help

I get fta channels no problem, the others keep going on and off, I have checked at another address, it is not the box, both types of channel work. I have had virgin out today to check the router and it had high db's, 18-20, I thought this would of cured my problem, but no exactly the same problem. I have tried an f5 and f5s and both have the same problem. If its an LNB or cable problem would it not be the same on FTA channels?

Pulling me hair out, any help graciously accepted.

No Andy, I have tried 2 boxes at my address, both are fine on FTA, the other channels are intermittent. If I take both boxes to an alternative address, same server, they both work fine on all channels. I tried again at my address and I still have the same problem. I thought it was the modem, so had Virgin out to test it, it had a problem but is ok now. The boxes are still only working fully on FTA the others are intermittent.
If the server is OK at alternative address, then its not that, surely.

      HELP.

        Could be your internet connection.

Which Virgin package are you on? Can you run a speedtest.net and post results. Do you have any other problems with your internet connection while browsing, youtube ok etc.?

I wouldn't trust the Virgin engineer at all. They are known to falsify many things.

You need to carry out a ping test to your server.

It could be a firewall issue. Do you have the VM Superhub?

If so, open your internet browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 (Username/password is on the sticker on the modem.)
Click "Advanced Settings" at the bottom
              Under "Security" click "Firewall"
Under "Firewall Protection" set it to "Low" then click "Apply" at the bottom.

Test for 10-20 mins to see if it's any better. If it's still exactly the same as before go back to the Superhub config and set the firewall back to Medium. If you want to completely rule out any Firewall issues you can completely disable the firewall for a few minutes just to check (just untick the checkbox next to "Firewall"). Be sure to turn the Firewall back on after testing though and let us know how it goes.
