Skybox f5s recording issues

Hi guys, first post on any kind of forum so forgive me if I'm in the wrong section. I've got a couple of Skybox F5s' and Ive got a real weird problem with them, it one wont switch itself onto record on my external drive. I can manually hit the record button during a program and it records faultlessly, but it wont switch itself to do unattended recordings. Ive updated it to the latest firmware in the hope that this might fix it, but nope, still the same.
Incidentally, the second box (which records fine) refuses to do the update, it keeps coming up with "software mismatch" on screen ? Any ideas on both would be really great, thanks.

I think i'm having the same problem with my F5s.....once its on standby it doesn't do any timed recordings.
Older F5 works perfectly.
Its a shame as the new EPG updates are great......maybe the box need left on rather than being put on standby.
I also noticed that the F5s has a format option... so maybe it needs used to get the HDD exactly the way the box is happy.
