I'm not sure whether it is due to firmware but try updating the box anyway and see if that helps. I have homeplugs and they appear to be working fine. Just make sure cables etc are connected properly and your internet connection is stable.

Now to get the firmware I would advise you go to the official Skybox web site SkyBox | SkyBox

Then find the firmware for your box, download it, unzip it and then put the file that ends in .abs onto the root of usb stick. Don't put it in any folders. Check the threads for walkthrough on how to update the box if you've never done it before.

If the updating firmware doesnt help then try the following:

    • Get the latest Channel list(the filename ends in .dbs) from the stickies and put that on the root of USB stick.
    • Connect to usb stick to the box
    • Delete the existing channels
    • Reboot Box
    • Apply the Channel list you've just downloaded
    • Reboot Box
    • Turn box off
    • Turn it back on

Try and see if this helps you.

If the above doesn't help you then contact your gift provider etc.

Glitching on normal channels is down to either you box or satellite signal.

Scrambled issues are linked to provider or other internet issues.

Switch the box off at the wall & unplug the homeplugs
then unplug the router....leave it for a few mins....plug the power back in the router
plug the home plugs back in & switch the box back on

Goto menu/network settings make sure DCHP is on

        Hope it helps

        Edit

Think about it the internet would not cause the FTA channels any problem
As DW says most prob the dish moved....has the high winds been in your area ???

as said glitching on FTA channels has nothing to do with the internet/powerline................................... and so on.
Double check the dish alignment, the cable connections at the LNB and box and maybe even the LNB itself.
Whats the history of your setup...newly fitted for this setup, old setup from a SKY system etc.
The Skybox's generally have weak tuners compared to some other boxes and the dish often needs dialled in a bit better.
What the SNR value for the likes of BBC1...anything lower than 60% will likely cause issues...you really need 70-75% or better

I would sort out getting a better signal first as it may not be the box, can you not test it on another sky dish to see if the signal improves ?

Funny really I have put these sh*t cheap and nasty boxes all f5s in many of house with home plugs and with out and never experienced this problem when they have been set up completely correct! If you just want a box to watch sly channels and now a very good epg I would say with very good support then you can't go wrong! And for the f3 ones been more stable that's a load of bolloxs too. If you set them up correctly and your dish is spot on you shouldn't have a problem. If you put home plugs in to extension and not Direct in to sockets u start getting problems also. Also good Internet.

skyboxes and sky sat dishes may have problems with the lnbs used by sly and need updating, plenty of threads onit around more so to do with no signal issue. with so many types of skybox models and clones something will go wrong.on the homeplug issue if plugging into a double socket dont use the other as it will effect your speed.
fta problems as said are cable related, sat dish moved to different position slightly in stormy weather.loose connection on cable ends.

I have two F5s's plus DM800SE all work excellent so you dont have to spend loads to get a good picture, Im happy as larry ( I got rid of 2 x dm500 for the F5's and Ive not regretted it).

Some boxes are good, some are excellent just depends on what you want and what you want to pay.
