Hi ive had my openbox s11 for over 2 years and although I used to get the odd "device speed is too slow" error the box would carry on recording, however recently my box died and I recovered it with a different firmware and now with the same portable usb hardrive every few seconds I keep getting usb disconnected and usb connected, as a result recordings are impossible. Is this firmware related or does the hardrive need replacing, im just curious as it worked fine before?

sounds like the box can't power the USB drive properly...if you have a HDD with its own power pack try that to eliminate the USB signal side of things.
Have you had the HDD checked in a PC to see if its OK and to prove the cable....often the supplied cables are crap and a better one sorts issues like these.
