    Led tv help

Hi guys, had a skybox f3s for about 3 months all working very well, my box works fine when connected to my old lcd tv, but just got a new led tv for Christmas and as soon as I connect the tv to my skybox via the hd lead the skybox says no signal on every channel, been driving me nuts for the last couple of days so any advice would be great thanks.

Yeah tried 2 cables, went through all the settings but couldn't find anything, it's very strange the second you plug the hd lead in the skybox signal just disappears???

When you say the signal disappears, is it the skybox losing its sat signal or the TV not receiving the signal through the HDMI?

If its the latter which I think it is check the Video-Format is set to one supported by the TV. You can do this by pressing the V-Format button on the remote 2 presses at a time. Press once and again between 1 & 2 seconds. You may have to do it 4 or 5 times if its down to 480 to get it to 1080.

This is what worked for me, my tv didnt support 1080p which was what my f5s what set to as deafault, that v format button does the trick but be careful there is a delay of a few seconds before it changes so dont keep pressing it

The tv is able to receive the signal from the box, the menu bar appears, but the skybox signal drops to less than 10 and just displays no signal on every channel

Check your satellite cable to make sure it is fitted to the correct (LNB IN) socket and that the inner cable has not bent against the outer par of the F plug/Connector.

If your tv has a scart port then see if the problem persists via scart....if its a smart tv it may be trying to scan the skybox to see if its compatible with the tv software....double check the tv setup

Yeah I'll give it a go trough scart if I can find a scart lead and report back, can't seem to find any settings for hdmi connections

Went out today and bought a scart cable and it does exactly the same as the hdmi cable, as soon as I connect the box to my new tv the skybox signal drops, I tested the setup on my old tv and it works fine but the second my box touches the new tv signal drops, I really have ran out of ideas now???

Managed to get a picture working on my new tv but only by having the scart connected to my old tv at the same time even while the old tv is in standby, as soon as I remove the scart from the old tv signal drops off, anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

Finally managed to sort it, it seems the skybox uses the tv for a earth, my new samsung led tv doesn't have a earth as it is double insulated so I took a separate earth from the plug socket to the outer casing of my skybox and it's back working, thanks to all who helped!
