    f5s clone

Ive seen a lot of posts about cloned boxes on here, How do you tell if you have a clone box? and what problems would it cause if it was cloned?

On older boxes you were able to tell by the chip id not sure about that now. I know brand new boxes now should have skybox hologram on it to indicate its an original box (at least according to manufacturers website).

Original firmware from skybox.cc is unlikely to work instead getting a file mismatch type error.

      Cheers for your reply mate.

A hologram on the stb itself? or the cardboard box it comes in?

Just waiting on my usb drive to come so I can update firmware from skybox.cc, then if it mismatchs my box is a clone correct?

Would that make my box completey useless and be unable to update? or are there ways around the mismatch errors? eg using different firmwares??

My hologram is on the cardboard box it came in.

I'm sure there was another site (I read it in this forum) where you can get clone safe firmware from although I believe you don't always get the most upto date firmware as is available from skybox.cc.

I would wait to see if you get any error messages and then do a search in this forum for clone safe firmware.

If my box is a clone and I update it with official firmware wont it kill the box or something??

if I back up my existing firmware before I try the update would I be able to revert back if it gets killed?

I would make sure there is a working way to backup/load firmware via rs232 first
