    2nd box looped

    Hi guys

im looking to setup another box upstairs

Downstairs will be an F5s & upstairs will be an F3

i have an input TV ariel port down stairs & an output TV ariel port upstairs

Can i just connect the cable from the F5s loop to the Tv ariel port then connect a cable from the Tv ariel port to F3 box upstairs?
If i do this would i still need to connect an ethernet cable to the second box upstairs?

    Thank for any help given

If you connect the boxes that way, then you can only have 1 box on at a time, as they will be fighting over control of the LNB.

Also, you may get a lot of loss through the Aerial ports. The cable may not be suitable for satellite signals if ordinary, cheap cable has been used. Also the aerial sockets might not be connected together directly. They should be connected to a splitter or a distribution box somewhere, so the signal may not get through anyway.

The second box will still need an ethernet connection.

It will work but as already said the boxes won't work properly as you can only view either H or V channels at the same time.
IMO it would be better to run a 2nd proper Sat cable from the LNB to the bedroom or to were the aerial feed for the bedroom originates from.....Sat cable isn't that expensive nor is a Dual/Quad LNB if needed and the end result would be much better by having 2 fully independent systems........LAN cable / internet feed to both.

run a second cable from dish to receiver and avoid the crying and gnashing of teeth.
The loop out was for test equipment and not for connecting a second receiver.

Use a pair of Homeplugs (powerline adapters).

I have used these ones in the past with no problems:-

Buy ON NETWORKS PL200-199UKS 200 Mbps Powerline Adapter Kit | Free Delivery | Currys

These actually look good, can you get more of an extension for 2 rooms?

If your question is regarding the HomePlugs then yes you just buy another set of the same brand and speed and you have another 2 rooms you could equip

                        Thanks Hadron

I have ordered these from currys (if i cant use them for this i willl use them for my sons xbox)

                        I do have another question

Im sure i read on here you can not connect 2 boxes to the 1 sat cable, i did read a post of yours in dojopros thread

P&D...the no signal fix is for when you are using 2 satellite boxes on 1 LNB. I think dojopros wants to use 1 skybox with 2 TV's.

The bold part got me thinking why is there a fix if this can't be done?

I was going to try this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I see you have bought the homeplugs, make sure upstairs and downstairs are on the same wiring loop, otherwise they wont work

The Home Plugs will work the only time they dont is if you have something like a another ring main which is not looped into the first one, As for the Splitter that is not advisable at all to connect 2 sat receivers to the same cable each box should have its own feed from the dish
