F5s spinning on load when hooked up to satellite dish due to no signal??

SKY box F5s all set up installed dish on outside wall. Box is fine when not plugged in to satellite with coax wire. When plugged in to satellite constantly spins on load.

Got a digital sat finder it isnt powering up at all. Using an F connecter to F Connector from dish to sat finder plugged in the correct side Anyways went by the neighbors dish and had it almost accurate bar a few degrees for south east for Astra by checking with a compass but couldn't get an elevation of 20 degrees above the horizon plus I think there was something blocking the signal maybe the fence to the LNB so I am gonna move it up the wall tonight hoping that works.

Could this be the only reason that the box is spinning on load while hooked up to Satellite as when a turn the box off take that out and put it back on the box loads up no bother. So could it be cause a signal isn't currently being received?

Box works no bother when plugged in to my dish.

Don't know what you mean by "constantly spins on load"???

Do you mean that the box is constantly rebooting?

If so, it usually means that there is a short circuit, either in the LNB, or more likely in the cable to the LNB.

Did you fit the F connector yourself? If so, try unscrewing it & checking that none of the outer strands of wire are shorting to the inner connector.

Thanks Hadron not quite there yet but sorted the coax wire and box is no longer rebooting but no signal just gonna try sat finder again see if it is gonna bout up to try and get a signal from the dish with adjusting it not up there checking it till tomorrow hubby trying to get it sorted tonight the fact the dish is positioned similar to next doors and it not picking up a signal could that mean the coax wire has short circuited the lnb? I've just been called the sat finder is now powering up connected inside the house the coax running from dish to sat connection and the small f to f from receiver on sat finder to receiver box i could hear screeching from sat finder and ny man saying it is saying 90% signal but yet tv channels all state no signal told him he needs to be outside with the dish not inside 😞 in bed for work trying to sleep and be tech support god I hope its all starting to come together now they moved the dish up the wall and sorted the coax wire

Are you sure your picking up the correct sat ??
download an app to your phone & make sure the dish is pointing in the right direction

How are you monitoring the signal on the F5s?

Does the box already have a channel list installed? If so, just set it to a FTA channel such as BBC1HD & move the dish until you get a signal.

It's very easy to misalign the dish to 19.2e instead of 28.2e when relying on one of those noisy sat meters.

The LNB shouldn't have been damaged by the short circuit in the lead, as it's the box that supplies the voltage to the LNB. The box should have protection circuits to prevent damage when it detects a short circuit.

                      Hi Hadron,

Cheers for the info, I know I defo haven't skewed the lnb. Yeah I have a sea lion in and channels were found when I set up the box in my own home. I do not have an actual loaded channel list but as stated I had scanned for channels when hooked up to my dish so I will do as you said.

I gather that 19.2e and 28.2e are pretty close to one another.

Also do you have the settings for 28.2e or know where I could find them I just want to check that all is correct.

                      Thanks

Download Aj's sat list AJ's Sky UK Channel List **Only** Thread - Updated Regularly

once installed ....stick the box on BBC1

Throw the sat finder noise box in the bin.....

Goto the dish & loosen the bolts... move the dish bit by bit till you get a picture on the tv showing BBC1
then check the signal strength on the box (not sure on the F5s) but on the F3 press menu twice

If low then fine tune the dish by moving it....

Just stick your postcode in here and select 28.2e for the sat. Put the pointer where your dish is and you will see the correct line to point the dish to.

Satellite Finder / Dish Alignment Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com

Put the box on a Freeview channel BBC1 is good. Press the Info button three times and you will have the Sig & Qual bars on the screen. Play with the dish and have someone watching the bars on the screen. If your dish a long way from the tv use mobiles.
