Extremely Weird HDMI problem with Openbox S11

Hi ive guys ive got a really weird problem with my openbox s11. Basically it wont connect wtith my 50" Plasma, it used to work fine before and then for the past few days it would flicker and now it wont connect at all.

Heres the weird part ive tried a bunch of different cables and they wont work yet when i used the same cables with the official sky box it works fine.

Now at this point i though the hdmi port on the box is fried but guess what the box works perfectly fine on my other 19" and 32" inch TV with the same old cables. Ive tried all the V format settings and stuff yet as soon as i connect the box to the plasma the HDMI source comes up and then dissapears.

Any help would be appreciated guys?

You may need an electrician for this unless your handy with electrics.

Your ultra modern tv is probably made from modern plastic and no metal so probably wont have any earth to the plug. The Openbox only has two wires and no earth. One way or another the box requires earthing.

Some bright spark on here will surely know of an easy way to do this.

I think a member with a similar problem said that he just connected an earth wire to the LNB input connector on the openbox.

probablty a long shot but any chance you might be able to find the forum/thread where this problem was fixed. Also this might sound stupid but whats the earth wire?

I had a problem like this with my skybox f3s and new LED tv, I had to take a piece of earth wire and connect one end to the screw of the nearest socket and the other end to a screw on the metal casing of my skybox, if your unsure consult a electrician,

Earth wire can be any piece of single strand wire preferably green and yellow

Just slaken the screw and twist a piece of wire round then do the same with the other end of the wire to one of the screws on you Openbox.

[QUOTE=DW190;2202761]Heres the thread but you already got the answer.

http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f184/led-tvIhelp-390773/[/QUOit works fine on my other tvE]

Thanks but that problem seems slightly different. With mine I cant get a picture of the box on the tv at all but with that thread It was the channels which stopped working I believe.

If I cant fins a solution I may just have to sell and buy another box. Just a question would I have to sell the openbox as faulty because It works fine on my other TV's?

It wont cost you anything to try. The problem in the link was very much the same as yours. No Signal/No Picture

Not the tv but can cause serious damage to humans with all metal devices that dont have an earth.

With mine I was getting the menu bar etc but the sat signal was very low without a earth, hasn't harmed my new tv at all probably worth a try a small piece of wire would be a lot cheaper than a new box

                              Exactly my thoughts.

If it is an earth problem a new box will be the same. (Two wires = No earth)
