Skybox F5s Triax Tri-Link help please guys!

Hey guys, I've just tried setting up my Triax tri link to send the picture to the bedroom tv and all I am getting is a black and white picture with no sound, however the infra-red is working fine so I can change the channels in the living room from the bedroom!

i have a Skybox F5s, which is HDMI to my living room tv, then Scart from the box to the Scart input on the tri-link, which then is RF2 coax up to the bedroom, into the magic eye and into the TV!

the Scart lead and tri ax are both brand new off Amazon, all help is gratefully received, cheers guys!

Hi mate, I've tried tuning it in to the upstairs tv a few times but the only picture I'm getting is Black and white and no sound, the coax going upstairs worked perfect with my old sky box RF2 and I've just plugged it into the Ariel for freeview and that's fine too, I'll try a different Scart lead if I can pick one up this week, but other than that I'm stumped!

There are no NTSC or PAL Scart leads they are just that leads that feed information from one end to the other, I would suggest you have a look in the Skybox menu at the AV settings for the scart to make sure you are outputting at least RGB and PAL

Do the Triax units have any kind of PAL/SECAM/NTSC settings on them?

The symptoms sound like the old problem of using the wrong PAL variant on a UK TV.

            UK TV's use PAL(I) (Thats a capital i).

all i will tell you is that the Triax Tri-Link is of superior quality to the Mercury one

That unit is purely for converting a video/audio signal to RF, so it can be routed via RF coax (like the output from your old video recorder).

It doesn't have the facility for IR remote control from another room.

                        Hi Chaps

Got the thing set up, got decent picture on the second TV, but cant get the magic eyey to work
I have power to the Eye as the green light is on, not sure how it comunicates with the skyf5 box though
I am trying to use the SKYF5 remote to change channels in a different room to the box

                        any clues?

edit, just to add the triiax wont transmit colour picture unless you change the settings on the skyf5s box
system set/tv settings/change TV VIDEO out to RGB

Downside to this is the master TV that is connected to the SKYF5 box wont give you 1080 res, so you have to keep swapping between the two (RGB and YUV) depending on which TV you are using

did you place the small infared receiver eye near to where the F5s one, I would assume the IR receiver on the F5s is some where near the LED display

They can be quite fiddly not just on this particular unit but on any device ie: Blu Ray player some IR can be fussy and you need to try different positions until its happily working could be right on top of it or a few inches away
