Recently purchased Skybox F5S from Amazon UK

Hey there. Purchased Skybox F5S with 18 month gift?? from Amazon - I am posting here to be able to download channel list which I believe I have to do before setting up the new box - have to admit totally baffled.

Bought this box for bedroom - we have full package sky+ box in living room. But tbh beginning to think should have gone for another "mirror card" from sky as much easier to set up - Advice for idiots on setting up would be gratefully received. Its the router connection, downloading channel lists, usb stick use which is completely baffling me at the moment - things I have never come across with Sky boxes. .

And incidentally we are based in southern spain most of the time.

If bought off amazon I would of thought it would have a channel list and latest firmware! I might be mistaken. Just so you no u should also probably read the rules of the forum as we don't speak about the gift here it's against the rules but if you read the very very good tuts on here it couldn't be made easier its foolproof. Just download channel list off here I use aj's but you choose then extract to USB,

Trust me when I say the Skyboxes/openboxes are probably one of the most user friendly boxes you can buy. Most of the other boxes are less user friendly and cost more.

Yasminandario is correct as there is normally the default channel list on the box but don't worry there are two other channel lists which are updated regularly. These are Sattv5's and AJ's.

AJs channel list is more organised (ie ITV2/3/4, etc are more grouped together which may differ compared to original $ky box. Sattv5's should closely match $ky's tv numbering system.

Personally I use AJ's but my guess is you would prefer Sattv5 as his list is in $ky numbered ordered. You're free to choose whichever one you want and can change your mind and use the other one if you prefer.

Download either one (they may need extracting) and place onto a usb pendrive which goes into back of F5s.

To update channel list do the following (this is my preference others may not bother):-

1. Press Menu then Edit Channel (first icon) then select Delete All and answer yes to prompt.
2. From within menu select Tools menu (4th icon) then select 'upgrade by USB'. Now for upgrade mode select (using arrow keys) Misc Files and scroll down to Select & upgrade and click ok. Now under Misc files to upgrade, ensure TP_PROG.dbs is highlighted and press ok button (this will now put a tick next to TP_PROG.dbs). Then press yellow button to upgrade.
3. The box will now upgrade the selected options which in this case is the channel list. Once done turn box off and wait a few seconds and turn back on.
