Skybox F5 user with a few queries...

Hi All,
Firstly thanks for your great posts, they have helped me a lot in getting to grips with my F5 with WiFi dongle.

I use the EPG guide a lot when navigating channels however when i exit the EPG menu it nearly always freezes the picture for a few seconds. The picture can also freeze randomly when not pressing any buttons. Sound can go out of sync with the picture randomly. Also, the EPG only shows programs that are on now and next nothing more. I have updated the firmware to the latest on skybox.cc (SKYBOX_F3_F5_M3_CMT_131223046C.abs) but this has not improved the performance of the above issues at all.

So, i have some queries for you guys:
- Do you think my box is a clone? (I assume no as i have flashed it with firmware from the skybox.cc website)
- Is there anything i am setting up incorrectly to make the box unstable?
- I would like to change the box for something else, like an F5s and from some of the posts i have read i can't see anyone complaining of the same issues i have with my F5. Would you say the F5s is stable? Does the new firmware for the F5s allow more than the now and next program to be listed?
- I bought my F5 from eBay. Where would be the best place(or eBay seller) to buy from to make sure I don't end up with a clone?

I have a F5s.
The problem with the EPG, I have seen it in other posts. It seems to be common to the F5 and F5s.
With regards to the F5s I found it very stable, didn't gave me a problem.
The problem you say about the sound being out of sync with the picture, it happen me before with another box, you need to download the latest version of the firmware to correct it.

I might be wrong, but a clone box is made with different components from the original box. So, the fact you downloaded this or the other firm. IT doesn't change the fact the box is an original or cloned.
Btw mime is a clone from china and works 100%.

Both clone and original r from china, skybox.cc firmware won't work with clone u will get mismatch also out of sinc audio is normally down to incorrect audio output selected as for scrambling could be own to a number of things but I see your using wifi! Probably worst connection you could use!

repulser...the F5 can only show now&next. If you want a Skybox with a better EPG you need an F5s.

The firmware details i first posted about it the very latest one from skybox.cc that was released just last month. My F5 has the very next to previous version dated 28-03-13. I may try an older version of the firmware to see if that is any more stable.

Not sure about audio settings. I pressed "AUDIO" on the remote and noticed there is an option of "pdr (2323)" which i selected but i still get the freezing and then the audio going out of sync for a moment . I have noticed that i get the freezing on FTA channels also but i have not been able to get the audio to go out of sync with them.

I am leaning towards getting a F5s now. I believe it still has only one USB socket. Has anyone tried using a USB hub to enable both wifi dongle and Hard Drive to be connected at the same time?

repulser...the F5 can only show now&next. If you want a Skybox with a better EPG you need an F5s.

Mine is an F5S Hadron and only does now and next on EPG, how do I get it to do more.....thank you...

you need to alter the settings

First put USB stick in the back, make sure its FAT32

Menu
system set up
epg and timer set up
change the epg default setting to "internet" instead of satellite
scroll down to XMLTV select ok
select u.k setting to Auto
hit the red button to update

Leave USB stick in, as the box should auto update (it only works sometimesin standby mode, so you may need to do this every now and again
Also, the movie list sometimes takes a day or so to update

You will need the latest firmware from skybox.cc website first, if you haven't already got it.

If your not very clued up with the workings and brick your box attempting to get the little extras you'll be disappointed.

I don't ask much and do read DW, been modding for a while (d2mac, topuptv if you remember them, before digital), done wii's, ds's, Xboxes and not had a brick yet, only had my skybox 3 weeks and done a fair bit to it, just that I missed the epg mod......

My apologies, bricking it wont bother you as you can probably revive it.

So many play and end up disappointed for just for a few little icons and a tv guide they risk losing the main functions.

Those were the days, Dbox and On digi.

No problems DW I can't use the epg mod as I have a clone box and cannot upgrade it to get the epg and timer set up......
