    SKY G1S GPRS Modem?

    Hi chaps

Been looking at these add-ons, not sure exactly what they do

i am correct in assuming you insert your mobile phone sim card in it, so it can connect your skyf5s box to the internet without using the conventional broadband set up?

    If so, do they work?

I have a holiday home with a sky dish and was wondering if this was a way of me getting my skyf5s box working there

Hi, You are correct with your thinking Data, Call/Data SIM card required but you need to be in a 3G area for it to work. Info pulled from Google maybe worth searching. Only for F3S & F5S.

F4 does gprs and works ok but only on certain networks, cant remember which.

I have found it to be better using a 3g modem/router or tether from a mobile with a wireless dongle.

Dependant on the providers quality of signal in the area is the be all and end all for any gprs device.

Does the site have wifi? A friend of mine uses the sites wifi for his laptop and opens the hotspot on it for a box.

Another one got a phone line & Bband from Primus and shared the ?11.20 a month cost with a couple of ajacent vans who managed to connect with wifi dongles.

Hi got a gprs dongle and connected to my f3s but it keeps saying no gprs device. Is this likely to be a faulty dongle or is it just that my sim is not compatible? Or even poss the firmware I am running? All help appreciated as I live in an area where I cant get a wired web connection so have tried wifi dongle via mobile tethering with varing results although most seems to be no ip connection rather than no reception so I thought a gprs would be easier however I dont know what the settings should be. HELP thanx Paul
