F5S corruption? Possibly related to sticky, possibly not

Hi, I have an issue with my F5S reciever, I was doing a blind scan earlier and the box went off mid way through, with a message on the display something like StPt, I tried turning it off with the remote but got nothing, so unplugged and left for 10 mins, plugged it back in and got nothing on the display except a very faint 0 or 8 and the remote had no effect, after about 10 minutes the box booted itself up, when the load reached 100 on the display it then turned back off. This happened a few times.

I disconnected the line in and tried it again and now it loads up fully and I can access the menu's and channels, but most channels are scrambled. If I turn the box off I cant get it back on without unplugging it, plugging it back in then suffering through 5-10 minutes of unresponsiveness and waiting for it to turn back on itself.

Im guessing this is a corruption issue? , I've seen the sticky topic on recovering dead boxes so could follow the steps on that, but was wondering if there was an easier way seeing as my box isnt completely dead and I can get to the menus? Any help would be great, thanks in advance, go easy on me im very new to all this

Have you recently updated it? If so I would update again using the last known good firmware from the skybox site.
