Questions from a open box idiot how know nothing after 3 hours of research

I was thinking about buying the skyboxf5 but i have many questions and sorry if they have all been answered before

1. Do i need a satalite dish to recieve channels through the box

2. If you do can i use my sky dish

3. are the gift subscirptions things what you get to watch subscription channels

4. Is it only possible to watch through Gift subcription

5. Is the F5 box outdated should i go for another

Where have i ever said the F3 original's are crap....i still have 2 of them going strong nearly 2 years old
