    does it load OK with out sat cable out...? plug in everything else ,
    if it comes on to a channel put sat cable in

      No mate, nothing at all. Just does the reload with all or nothing plugged in. Going to recover it. Can anyone point me towards a good usb null modem cable

          Yes mate, tried it all completely. Different houses, plugs, cables etc. just got a null modem cable via ebay but it was male not female. So USB to female i need if anyone can point me the right way?

              RS232 serial ports on pc's are male connectors. That's why the USB adapters have a male connector on them. They simulate a genuine serial port.

              So you also need to buy a null modem cable (female to female) to go with your USB to serial adapter. Like this one:-

              Having said that, it's always best to use a pc with a built-in serial port. USB to serial adapters don't always seem to work. Do you know anyone with an older pc that might already have a serial port?
