Skybox f5 loses memory after reboot

Hi guys
have a skybox f5 that was dead, just red led on display, managed to upgrade software using rs232 cable and was showing channels ok. Problem is when it's powered down for longer than a few minutes it reverts back to the same state and I have to reupgrade the software. Any info appreciated

apparently it was the good old days, so many people owning this famous skybox!
