    Your friend is wrong.

You can record for as long as you like. If you are using the manual timer, go to menu > system setup > timer setting. Press OK to select the 1st timer. The default duration is 2 hours, but you can change it to whatever you want.

If you want to record the programme you are currently watching, press the record button on remote twice (you may need to select PS or TS first if you are on an SD channel) to bring up the duration box. Again the default is 2 hours, but you can change it to whatever you want.

Your USB stick is too slow to record on HD, check if it works on SD channels. The best bet is to get an USB external hard drive but make sure it has separate power connector.

Superb many thanks.... I must admit i have been looking all morning for a FAST nano usb flash drive but they all seem slow... Would anyone have a nano they perhaps could recommend please?? This is the ideal choice as this is going into my kitchen and i have limited mains sockets and space for the unit and dont want the larger usb flash getting knocked and damage the usb port on the skybox.

            Is this USB 3 please??

Again guys thanks for all the help its much appreciated.

USB 2 only I'm afraid. You'll have to wait for some info from one of the more experienced people on the forum about USB stick speed. I only found the problem because I tried to do the same as you.

This is how it works with pausing live TV. It pauses the picture but the sound is not muted. There's nothing that can be done about it.

Haven't tried it on an F5s, but on my S9, F3 & F5, the sound is not muted.
