    Circuit board take a look.

Hi guys over the years i have seen boxes with a wired loop on circuit boards!

I have never took much notice and always presumed they must be cloned boxes but they have always worked!

On this particular box one of the wires has come away and im not sure where to reconnect it to does anyone have an idea please?1.jpg

That's just a Mod Wire where a design fault on the board etching has been found and a "Mod" wire added.

Is it working without it ?

An old adage if it ain't broke don't fix it

Need to look for excess solder within the radius of Wire looks like there is some on 2nd Pin up on RHS of Chip but could be mistaken.

What box is it as other members may be able to open there's up and advise.

sail please take a crystal clear picture of the entire board so I can help you locate where the wire was attached.
Use an hd camera, no phone camera.

without knowing the brand/model of receiver, just a guess.
looks like some sort of write enable or protect on an eeprom

From the amount of solder on the pin, it looks like it goes to pin 2 of the chip (second pin in from the top right).

                What Openbox/Skybox model is it?

that is the protection ic and it makes no sense to go to those pins.
pins 5 and 6 on the other side are the i2c bus
would be interesting to know what the mod did,I have one that has a corrupt chip.

Was a lot smaller loop may not have even gone to there!

on a regular eeprom like a 24lc16 (s10 clone?)pins 1,2,3 are used as the chip address and are usually tied to ground.
It may be a regular eeprom with a trace cut on the bottom and jumper to pin 2 for some reason.
Other brand/models may have a jumper to disable the chip.

after loading firmware the receiver would boot to -- with a bad chip unless you were using anonymousx firmware
