For all those experiencing load up problems read this !!!!!

I have a 6 month old F5 which has developed a load up problem (looping) gets to 100% then back to re-load. After spending 6 days and re-flashing my skybox time and time again with different .abs files, all to no avail, faults with only loading to 93% or 97% hanging on 98% (this is a programming fault not the box), reading loads of posts about mismatched files..... THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED...... If you haven't re-flashed your box...... DON'T...... KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL SOFTWARE THE BOX IS NOT BRICKED OR DEAD. However there is fault with the box that re-flashing will not cure. The problem is the satellite coax has a voltage running through it that causes a short in the box and stops it from loading. All you have to do is remove the coax connection from the box, switch on the box let it load it might take a few attempts to load then re-connect the coax to the box. Hey presto everything should work until you turn off the box or it freezes, just disconnect the coax again let it load up and re-attach. This is not a firmware problem it is a manufacturing fault.

If you have re-flashed the box and are having problems go to SkyBox | SkyBox download the official .abs file for your machine but remember you will still have to disconnect the coax cable before it will reload.

    HOPE THIS HELPS.

    fixed

    Hi Plumbit
My box loaded but froze shortly afterwards. If I turn the LNB power off (Removed arial first) in the cp then reconnect the arial the problem stops But the signal strength goes down to 33% from 88% so no channels show. When I switch the LNB power on the fault repeats with the arial attached so Thank for your tip as I can now get into the menu but still need to fix the problem so any advice gratefully received. For clarificatiom problem started after Jan firmware update F5S.
Restored the December firmware update and the LNB problem has gone and the skybox is back to normal.

I sometimes suspect that the problem may be with the Power Units, rather than the boxes themselves. Maybe the PSU's are underrated, & as soon as the power is applied to the LNB near the end of the boot process, it trips out & reboots the box.

plumbit...have you ever tried another PSU with your box? It will have to be one with the same voltage & polarity (12v, + to inner) with a current rating equal or greater than the one printed on the current PSU.

If you do try it, don't use one of those old bulky unregulated ones, as they could damage your box.
