I believe my f3 is a clone if there is no skybox logo in the battery compartment of the remote, correct?
I tried a firmware update via usb stick using firmware from skybox.cc website. It then went into constant boot loop. Having read the null modem fix thread, I was wondering if it is worth buying a pci card and a null modem cable from ebay. I still have the old firmware that was on my box on a usb stick.
Below is a ?3.99 pci card, a few seem significantly more expensive but don't seem worth the money. Is this worth a gamble or do cheap pci cards not likely to work?

I am assuming I can use the old firmware previously on my box along with the "erom upgrade 8mflash" files to fix the box?
