I am very new to this but want to get a box to play around with. I am thinking about getting the skybox F6 which I am told is identical in every way but name to the Openbox x5. How ready is the firmware upgrade available and is the channel list provided by Aj's usable for the skybox f6

Not sure why you would want to go for a relatively unheard of model when as you can clearly see from the Openbox/Skybox section that the most support is for the F3/F5 - F3s-F5s.

which appear to be the Most popular models in this section

AJ's & sattv5's channel lists are not compatible with the F6 or X5.

Get yourself a F3 mate, simple and good box IMO. Also can use AJ list with it.

Must say I prefer the look of the F5S, looks that little bit cleaner. Both do a good job of being cheap but decent enough to use.

F5 is a better looking box yes. But arent there lots of well documented problems with f5s?

Tend to find that a lot of problems are caused by user error but I have heard it's not as well built. It's also at a throwaway price point so doesn't really bother me too much.

                Hi digicon

Mainly because of the enhanced network apps and the processor speed and memory. I like the idea of Google maps, gmail and weather. Its to play around with.
