    To much of a coincidence!

How many people have been using there f5s with no problems then as soon as they update firmware or in my case used the lan tool we get a box that loads up for a few seconds then freezes?

Disconnect sat feed and all ok?

All of a sudden we have suspect feed?

Not saying that it doesn't help but why all of a sudden is the feed no good when it been fine for month's.

    Something not making sense????

Don't use any Lan tools, they can corrupt your image (FW). Best is just to download files to your usb and update from there. I had a corrupt ABS file, and I think it was because of editing through a Lan tool. Can't remember which though. Splitting and merging on chinese fw, no good....50-50% chance of failing...?

My F5S died on me when updating my channel list (so I could get Boxnation HD).

Fine before hand, box just keeps crashing all the time now as soon as I add my LNB connection.

I've tried three separate cables, and all of them crash the box, everything works absolutely fine until I plug the LNB.

I've flashed the software god knows how many times now, and it keeps doing it.

Has anyone got any other ideas as to how to solve it?

You could try reflashing by nul modem using the original firmware.

Yeah done all that the box never seems to completely go back to its virgin state so whatever causing it is still there I believe!

I will fix this I'm determined to .

If you find a way I'd appreciate it if you let me know how. If tried everything and I'm at a loss?

In response to DJ1978, maybe there's just a bad batch of these boxes around? Maybe it is something that people are doing wrong (but if it is I have no idea what I did)?

A lot of people use these boxes and have no issues. So I'm not going to say to not get one, but in my opinion if you do have the extra cash it maybe worth while spending the extra on a better built box.
When working my box was fine at what it did, but you can tell that it's not a premium item and has been made as cheaply as possible.

I still wouldn't mind getting the damn thing working again though!

Right, I have been experimenting and got somewhere (just about).

Having read up I decided to try and flash a F5 image instead of a F5S image and got exactly the same results.

I then decided to flash an old F3 image (the Scooby_Snax 091112 version), I wasn't sure what to expect on this one as it was old. However the box booted up and loaded on to CBBC Channel. It was showing BBC 3 given the time of day but the box did not freeze (the menus, channel lists and everything else was working fine).

I switched to BBC 4 and it worked fine. I then tried going to ITV 1 HD and the box locked up, I tried it with some scrambled channels, and the box locked straight away.

Does this give any one any ideas?

load the f3 image,do a factory reset, then load the correct firmware for the receiver.
