    @sailsy
I'm certain another house/LNB/dish/cable will make NO difference whatsoever for you.
    I've already tried it.

I've been studying how the eromupgrade tool works. The config.bat needs to be run to copy the correct data into the sdram.ini and eromclient.abs files.

To do this the cmd line must be

    config.bat [platform_type]

where [platform_type] defines the processor and the memory size

    eg "64M_SF_M3602" or "128M_SF_M3606" etc

The problem is, the F3s is a 3601 with 128M DDR. [Is the F5s the same?]
There are no configuration files that match this in all the "rs232 upgrade" packages I've downloaded.

    The nearest is "ddram_128M_32bit_M3602.ini"

I believe 3602 is not compatible with 3601

    I'll keep looking!

    I've just found this thread.
I'm yet another one with a Libertview F3s with exactly the same problem. ie after changing a cfg file with the LAN tool, the box crashes after a few seconds when the LNB cable is connected. I've also tried every possible combination of fixes with no result. BTW, as others have already stated, there is nothing wrong at all with the LNB cable.

There must be some way to fix this?

Jambo, depends on your budget but if you strech to around ?130 ish, then I would honestly recommend Technomate TM-Nano, with openvix firmware. it will give you a proper 7 epg, and the channels will auto update. It is a linux box, so may need some learning, but trust me you will enjoy it (providing you like getting your hands dirty with software).
Im not slating the skybox/openbox etc, but in my opinion they are good as a second box, main box I would always go for Linux based. I myself have a VU Duo its a solid relaible box that is wife freindly to use.

if ?130 too much then the cloud ibox 2 which is a clone of a Octagon SF8 may be OK, but again clone dont expect years of service.

Sailsy thats a good start, box runs with out a LNB conenct. Sorry if teach you to suck eggs, check the damn LNB cable, its not shorted has it. Failing that you said your going to mates house, try it there.

Jambo try what I have suggested, i.e without the LNB.. OK your box might not be clone fair enough, but you tuner (LNB Input) might be shagged. If thats the case it will be better with a new box.
I've tried it without the LNB and its no joy, guess the box is screwed up hardware wise.

Its going to have to be a new box, have you any recommendations for a new box? I'm looking for something cheap and reliable. Just something I can run my lion on.

    Enough is enough,

I've tried all of the firmwares, I've tried all of the cables and resets and firmware flashes etc.

This has got to be hardware related.

I've spent enough time trying to sort it and end up in the same place everytime.

I'm 99% certain its not a clone, as it won't even boot with that firmware on there.

I'm calling this one a lost cause, and I'm giving up.

    Thanks for everyones help though

So what your saying is that when you connect the box to the lnb this is when you issues start, it could be a faulty lnb as these boxes are very sensitive and some do give out the incorrect voltage to lnb resulting in loss of Horizontal or vertical as it wont switch, try the box at a friends house and see how the box works there.
