1) Whats the point in flashing/re-flashing?

2) Should I install a channel list before or after connecting the sattelite or the other way round?

Think you need to do some reading of the Stickies.

Firmware (Flashing) is your choice if you have a stable setup why change maybe only for major changes similar to the EPG Release for the F3S & F5S.

Channel List you will need or you will be searching through approximately 900 channels to get to a channel you want to watch. AJ's or Sattv5 (Sky Numbered) Channel Lists are always updated on a regular basis whichever you choose Hit the Thanks Button as they take the time to provide these superb lists. Channels move frequency on a regular basis therefore Channel List needs to be updated to match.

Sorry misread Q2 doesn't really matter when you install a Channel List just remember to Reboot Box when complete and take a Backup (Dump) before doing any type of update.
