Skybox F5 & F5s - No signal for all channels

    Hi all,

I am a newbie and this is my first post, so please point out if I have missed anything obvious.

I have an F5 & an F5s. I want to use these boxes in my living room as well as a bedroom. I have a satellite cable in both of these rooms. I am already running one of the boxes in my living room without any problems. I also have a basic freeview box setup in the bedroom and it is working fine.

However, when I connect the 2nd skybox in the bedroom, I get "No Signal" for all channels. (ie. not just H or V channels). The signal strength is also greyed out. I have confirmed that this is not a box tuner issue as both of them work in the living room. I have also unplugged the living room box entirely and just connected the one box in the bedroom but still get the same error.

I initially thought this would be an LNB issue but given that the freeview box works, it doesn't look to be the case. It also doesn't look to tbe the usual "no signal" issue as it is not affecting just the H or V channels.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

Assume you have tried both boxes in bedroom with same result including No Signal on FTA channels then it is down to either Sat Cable,LNB or connections. to rule out LNB try swapping cables at LNB end or if a Quad LNB try a different output for bedroom connection.

IF FTA is working then how are you connecting to LAN Hardwired, WIFI or Homeplugs. If WIFI try Homeplugs as known issues with F5 and WIFI.

Process of elimination really starting with cheapest and easiest first.

couldnt it have something to do with you might be trying run 2 boxes off something you are not allowed to talk about?

if you are not bothered about watching the same programs in different rooms, you can always set it up to watch it in different rooms using the same box. for that you will need a modulator.
I use the triax version and am currently 3 tv's off 1 box, albiet 2 are of standard picture quality

          Thanks or the replies.

So the issue was a lot simpler than I thought. The problem was the length of the cable. At the moment, the cable goes all the way round my house and then back in through 2 bedrooms to get the the box. I tried with a shorter cable (The room is actually next to the dish) and all channels work perfectly.

So I will now get an inline amp which should hopefully let me use the original cable.

I would just reterminate the ends of the exisitng cable unless you are living in Buck Palace.
