Using a Skybox F5S on a freesat dish

    Any help would be appreciated,

I have purchased a Skybox F5S and have tried to connect it to an old freesat dish that is already on the side of the house.

I have connected it up and i am getting "no signal" when i put it on any channel from the newest AJ channel list.

Can anyone help with ideas or tips?

    Thanks

    Scott.

Did you actually test the Dish/LNB working before you connected the F5s, Also check that you screwed the 'F' connector into the LNB in and not the Loop out connector

      No mate i didnt.

It is a new house with the previous owners dish still on the side of the wall and cable running through to the living room.

i just hoped that i would be able to plug in a skybox and it would work. Probably being a bit naive.

I have replaced the f-connector and it is still the same.

Freesat works of the same satellites as Sky i believe so in theory it should work so possibly an LNB issue.

How easy and cheap is it to buy a correct replacement in the hope that this fixes the problem?

      Thanks in advance

      Scott.

Just to rule out the Dish and LNB for a second have you checked all the settings in the F5s what i mean by that is did you load a recent channel list to the box in the menu setup did you check that the satellite config is set to Astra2 28.2? east and lastly that the LNB setting is on Universal and set to 9750 - 10600.

if all those are Checked and correct before you spend any money on the dish can you check it with either A. An official $ly box receiver or B. and official Freesat receiver just to make sure its working correctly

Thanks for your help and quick response.

Thats my job for tomorrow after work.

I will check the settings on the skybox and if they are correct i will hook up an old Sky HD box that i replaced a few months back.

I will update the thread with what i find.

          Thanks again.

          Scott.

There is also a setting in the menu for switching the power to the LNB. Check that it's set to ON.

Are you absolutely sure that the dish was used for freesat & not perhaps used for foreign language channels on a different satellite (19.2e or 13e)?
