    My Journel so far

I am pritty much stuck in limbo.

purchased a skybox f5s, existing installation of skydish with quad lnb.

switch on. AJ's list bang 76% signal. all is happy with the world.

Until i wanted to watch more.

purchased a 1 meter dish off fleabay from system sat.

    included
dish, lnb, L shape wall bracket, and the disceq 1.2 motor.

Turned out i would need a bigger bracket due to the location of where the satellite had to be to be in the line of sight for the satellite.

T and K bracket would be needed instead.( see pictures they paint the picture)

    NOW THE PROBLEMS BEGIN.

got the dish mounted on the most perfect horizontal hole you can imagine know to man, checked with 3 meter spirit level.

using RG6 cable (brand new) all connections have been reterminated, twice.

trying to find either thor 0.8 west or 28.2e cannot even sniff higher the 45% signal

moving the satellite up, down, left, right on the mount even left an right on the motor

tryed the elevation up an down, basically the satellite has been in every direction and still no sign of the signal going over 45%

    LETS START SWOPPING PARTS

unscrew the lnb from the motor signal drops to 37%, screw it back up 45%.

bought another brand new lnb (nothing)

replace cable going from lnb to motor (nothing)

throw skybox f5s out the window to see if there is a possible fix (very close too doing)

i have a dreambox dm7020 i can swop it with but since it is set up i dont want to throw it all out (newbie at dreamboxs)

    KNOWN FACTS

the motor moves left an right from the skybox and the box will bring the motor back to 0%

tryed all 45 transponders on 28.2e still at 45%

no difference between horizontal transponders and vertical stays at 45%

the motor light is solid green

asoon as i plug the orginal sky dish back in, all of the 28.2e channels come back on

used satfinder app on iphone to check the line of sight at satellite, also elevation and the azimuth angle

tryed to find bbc world news on 0.8w forget the transponder number i was using now but i got it off lingsat

tryed to match the satellites angle up with an existing satellite which is 2 meters away from it

    HELP

i have read the forum for anyone is my situation, cannot seem to find anyone as daft as me to get a 1meter motorised dish an be stupid enough to attach it too a skybox an think that it would work.

Has anyone used a skybox f5s to align there motorised dish to work ?

does the motor consume all the power, so there is no power going to the LNB ?

IF solved i promise to write a blog on how to install a motorised dish ONLY using a skybox (if possible)

Have you bypassed the motor and gone straight to lnb to see if your signal improves?

45% is the threshold that the box would show a blank. Anything less than 45% still shows 45% on a Skybox.

76% is as good as you get on a Skybox your new dish system is out by a fraction. If you're that stressed pay a sat installer to tweak it will only take them 5 mins to sort it mate if you're struggling that much to sort it.

Thanks for the ideas, I am gonna bypass the motor see if the motors the problem, does any1 know if these boxes are actually good in the end once the satellite is set up on the arc of satellites.

I've had F3 & F4 working without any problems on a motorised dish.

Used AJ's list for 28.2 and scanned other sats individually deleting any unwanted channels after each sat was scanned.
