Used these for F5s and M5, boxes are genuine and arrived next day.

How can I tell if my F5s is a clone or not?

Is there a way without trying the firmware upgrade?
I did read go to Tools>Information and press 777777 but that didn't do anything. Also there is no QR code on the bottom of the receiver just a normal barcode/serial number.

My units are original and they don't have a QR code on the bottom so that is not a test, what is the issue with trying a firmware upgrade?

Everything appears to run OK at present and I don't want to risk upsetting the apple cart.
Can I protect my **** by backing it up before trying a firmware upgrade?

Both genuine and clone boxes have a QR code on the outer box. The genuine code directs you to the skybox.cc site, the clone one doesn't.

Neither box has a code on the box itself, only on the outer cardboard box.

On the cardboard box there is a QR code that directs me to skybox.cc does that mean it's genuine or do the cloners just copy the code as well?

Yep. There's a barcode on the underside of the skybox, but not a QR code.

If you don't have the outer box to compare the barcode with the QR code, then you can't use it to test whether it's genuine or not.
