Why upgrade Firmware

What are the reasons/benefits from upgrading the firmware?
How do I find what firmware is on my box, I don't know if it is genuine or a clone?
It has no QR code on the bottom.

your firmware will be in your settings . if it is running fine don't update it. Because this is how most newbies fry the box.

Goto Menu -> Tools -> Information now press 7 7 7 7 7 7 on the remote.
If the CCID is one of the following "00d0/00ea/085b/0d0c/98a1/98f2/9cf4/9d1a“

The Network Local Settings>6666 works but
Tools>Information>777777 doesn't
Tools>Information>111111 brings up a test menu though.
