    Skybox F5 - 3D help?

    Hello,

I have hooked up the skybox f5 to my 3d projector (confirmed with manufacturer it is out of the box 3d ready over hdmi). I am using the hdmi cable that was included in the skybox.

When set to Sly 3d channel, I see two side by side images, pressing the 3d function on telly - screen goes off for a bit and comes on showing the same image. The telly is definitely on 3d mode as it says so on the menu.

I tried setting skybox f5 to 1080i and then watching in 3d but no luck.

Could it be that the hdmi cable is not 1.3 standard and so does not support 3d? Any advice on how to get it working would be appreciated.

Also please point me to a channel list that includes 3d channels especially sports, my current list only has sly 3d

The Channel List for $ly only has one 3D channel because thats all there is one channel. when you tried on your TV by pressing the 3D button did you choose the side by side option from the menu.

Generally most 3D TV's and Projectors will give you at least 3 options which are: side by side - Up & Under - Checkerboard and standard 3D Blu ray which is detected automatically.

The HDMI cable supplied should be adequate enough for $ly's offering

      Thanks for the reply.

I've had a look at the projector menus and it doesn't give me any options for side by side etc, it only let's me choose between DLP and IR 3d modes. I think I may have been given wrong information and do need an extra equipment.

The projector is EST-P1, meant for classrooms but won it on eBay on a whim so trying to make the most of it .

There should be something in the menu on the PJ that lets you set the 3D source material to side by side i am not familiar with that PJ but have had dealings with Sony,Optoma,JVC etc... and most of these have the options for SBS,Checkerboard etc...

I have a 3D tv, and when i select the 3D channel on the sky Box, the TV automatically senses the 3D channel, and asks whether i want to switch to 3d or remain in 2d.
If i click yes, and dont have the glasses switched on, it reverts back to the split screen.

has yours got or need glasses?

I have a 3D TV but unfortunately rarely use the feature and when i do its for Blu Ray 3D which the TV auto switches into 3D mode and asks you to switch the Glasses on.

When i tried it when i first bought the TV i did try the 3D channel and as you say just used the 3D button to activate it and then a little sub menu appears and asks which format i want which i described above.

This is guesswork on my part, maybe it's not meant to work with an "openbox" or DVD player setup in 3D mode.

This projector is (usually) used tied to a desktop or laptop computer for use with whiteboards in schools etc - and they would need to have the necessary computer DRIVER for the EST-P1 to be preinstalled. Perhaps that powers any 3D display - no mention of Active/passive standard in its specifications - do they mean anaglyph 3D (red/blue specs)?

Supposedly the HDMI 1.3 cable standard is OK, on the EST-P1 it carries Video only, no audio. kag8 check your manual.
