Skybox - NOW and Next not working

My mate has a F5 (or f5s, not sure exactly), and his now and next doesnt work.
I deleted all channels and updated AJ latest list, but all I get is a "no information available" or something like this. And he said it has always been like this since the day he bought it.

Anyone come across this before? Reckon it is a firmware issue?

If it's an F5S he may have the EPG Firmware installed if that is the case he will need to setup the EPG for XML TV or do a manual update.

First EPG firmware was introduced on 23/10/2013 with a couple of updates in December and January available from Skybox.cc instructions for install from this site.

1.Support view XMLTV by Box's channel.
a.Goto "System Setup", enter the "EPG And Time Setting" Menu,
Set the EPG Default Setting as "XMLTV".

b.In the "XMLTV EPG" menu,Press red key to downlaod the data
manually.If switch "Auto update" on , the box will download
the epg data in standby mode Automatically(Panel show "EPg-").

I have got the 7day epg working but not the now and next. Any tips???

On all Channels or just a few.

As sometimes if the frequency of a channel has recently changed I don't think XML TV is updated straight away apart from that the only time I lose Now & Next is when EPG needs updating.

It was on all channels...
the only way I could get it to work was to change the EPG setting from XMLTV to "satellite" which means losing the 7day epg.

But this was a box i was setting up at my house for mate - so I connected it and disconnected it shortly after...maybe if I kept it connected for ages it would have worked? Seems silly though, a 7day epg is a bad idea if it is at the expense of the now and next.

If you keep the EPG updated Now & Next works if you dont update EPG you lose everything. You also need a minimum 256Mb USB stick connected permanently for the EPG to work as the info from XMLTV is copied to it.

The memory issue cant have been a problem. I updated the EPG and put auto update on. Im guessing if I had kept the box running long enough it would have magically appeared.
