skybox f5s upgrade question?

hi lads,
im thinking of updating the sw on my f5s to get the 7 day epg im reading about because i dont have the time setting and epg in my settings so im assuming its because the software is old! would i be right here?
also my other question is if i do update the sw will my sub be still there or will it be gone? the reason i ask this is because i bought it pre done and im not sure id be able to put it back in?

7 day epg would score me some points with the other half!!

If you go to menu > tools > information. The software version will show you which firmware you have. The latest genuine firmware is 3601HD_22_01_2014_05A0.

You can keep certain settings like your sub & channel lists etc. when you install new firmware by USB, but it's always best to keep a copy of your sub on a memory stick & on your pc. You never know when/if your box might throw a wobbly & brick itself!

Do you know if your box is genuine or a clone?

The skybox.cc website is still down at the moment, so I've attached the lastest firmware here.

Another thing you may be able to help with, ive seen a video where with the xmltv guide the channel logos are on each channel do you know how this is done??

Hi all can I ask what improvements have you found from upgrading I am thinking of doing mine I currently have 3601HD_24_12_2013_0614
is it just a matter of extracting above file to usb and rebooting did you save cccam file first

I haven't tried using the picons myself yet. Might give them a try later on.

According to the skybox.cc website the improvements over your version are:-

1.Fix bug:Timer not work in standby mode.
2.Add descriptor for timer event.

The first fixes a bug which stopped the box from booting up when a timer event occured.

Not sure about the second.

After extracting the file to your USB stick go to menu > tools > upgrade by USB. Upgrade mode = Image file (*.abs). Keeping DBS and settings = yes. Scroll to Start & press OK.

to be honest just with no scrambling of chanells, before i had a nightmare with it going off, sometimes for days.i tried network cables in the end nothing i done made any difference, since i started over everything has been fine, has not gone off since yesterday, im saying this update sorted it, but its a bit wierd that all of a sudden a problem ive been having the last few months has gone it seems !

The firmware upgrade by USB takes around a minute.
