Confident Upgrading

Whilst I know that the help and advice is invaluable on this forum, I have to say that some of the problems some people have when upgrading makes me wary of carrying out any kind of upgrade. I have a F3 and I have never yet updated firmware or a prog listing, I know that I will want to update prog listings soon, so how straight forward and safe is it to carry out?

why not just scan the channels yourself?
you can't get any fresher than that.

Worry over then. Don't worry to much with updating firmware, YouTube etc is crap anyway on these boxes
